Amarillo Gorillas News Release
The Gorillas are set to face off against the Indianapolis Ice on Tuesday night at the Bank One Jungle at 7p.m. Tuesday could turn out to be a night in the record books, as the Gorillas have the opportunity to even last year's record of 22 home ice wins. It would give the Gorillas their 8th consecutive home-ice wins. The Gorillas were victorious against the Ice on Sunday, defeating them 4-2. However, the Gorillas still trail the San Angelo Saints in the Southwest Conference by one point. A victory by the Gorillas and a loss by the Saints would put the Gorillas back on top of the division standings.
From the time the puck dropped until the last minute empty-net goal, the Bank One Jungle was filled with excitement and tremendous hockey.
John Dean started the night off with a goal in the middle of the 1st period. The 2nd period was kicked off with a bang by Mark DeSantis, who took only 7 seconds to score. The 3rd period of hockey was marked with goals, fights, penalties, and thrilling hockey. Dave Rattray netted a goal early in the 3rd period, which gave the Gorillas a 3-0 lead. However, the Indianapolis Ice came back with two goals making it a 3-2 game.
The second goal was just the beginning of excitement for the Ice as Remi Royer jumped off the bench and proceeded to fight Mark DeSantis. With under a minute of play left in the game, the Ice pulled goalie Jeff Sanger to give them the one-man advantage. John Dean capitalized off of the empty net and scored the final goal of the game. This sparked even more controversy from Indianapolis's bench as their coach was ejected from the game.
Tuesday night also marks the continuation of $5 tickets. Fans who have a ticket stub from any Friday or Saturday game can redeem their tickets at the Gorillas Office or the Civic Center Box Office only, and receive $5 tickets for Tuesday's game.
The Gorillas will be on home ice with two games on Friday against the New Mexico Scorpions and Saturday against the Oklahoma City Blazers. They will wrap up their regular season on Sunday in Wichita at the Kansas Coliseum. The Gorillas will then begin playoff play on Friday, March 19.
Tickets for Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday night's game can be purchased at the Gorillas Office located at 1934 Civic Circle, Civic Center Box Office; Panhandle Tickets Outlet located at Randy's Music Mart, WT Event Center and United Supermarkets.
