Gordon Status Still Questionable

Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa â It is a good thing that Quad City Steamwheelers coach Rich Ingold kept three quarterbacks on his 21-man, league mandated roster.
In last weekend's 71-32 victory over the Manchester (N.H.) Wolves, starting quarterback Ronnie Gordon went down early in the second half with a high ankle sprain. Gordon did not return as backup quarterback Matt Pike finished out the game.
Gordon went in for preliminary tests on Sunday and it was discovered that no bones were broken.
He will go in for more extensive tests on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury.
As of Monday evening, Ingold stated that Gordon's status for this weekends game at Manchester is questionable.
Ingold spoke with Gordon on Monday and said that Gordon, "was feeling a little bit better and that most of his pain is in his ankle."
"This is exactly the reason that I kept three quarterbacks," Ingold added. "I didn't keep these other two quarterback's around to go to the casinos; I may have to take three quarterbacks on this trip, but I really want to take two healthy ones."
Ingold must make his decision before Friday morning when the Steamwheelers depart for Manchester.

The arenafootball2 (af2) league consists of 25 teams in medium-sized markets with the purpose of training players, coaches and officials for higher levels of football. Several former af2 coaches have joined AFL teams and more than 175 players have advanced to the AFL over the past three years.
Several players have moved on to the NFL from the af2 including the âWheelers standout defensive rush end in 2003, Asa Francis, who last month signed with the Buffalo Bills to play in NFL Europe this spring.
