Former Steamwheelers Productive in Heart Breaking Loss

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Dennison Robinson of the Las Vegas Gladiators highlights a group of former Steamwheelers that saw action in Week 9 of the Arena Football League.

The wide receiver/defensive back had his most productive game of the season earning him U.S. Army Ironman of the Game honors for the first time in his career.

Robinson recorded nine catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns in a 57-55 loss to the Chicago Rush. The Rush scored the game-winning touchdown as time expired when quarterback Raymond Philyaw's pass hit off the net and fell into the hands of Etu Molden. Robinson's two touchdown catches (18 yards and 12 yards) were his fifth and six of the season, ranking him fourth on the Gladiators in touchdown catches.

On the other side of the ball, Robinson snagged his first interception of the season and tallied four tackles. He saw action on special teams as well having three kick returns for 49 yards.

Robinson's teammate Frank Carter had an equally impressive game for the Gladiators. The fullback/linebacker carried the ball five times for 49 yards and two touchdowns. Carter ranks first on the Gladiator squad in rushing attempts and rushing yards this season. On the defensive side of the ball Carter notched three tackles against the Rush offense.

Former Steamwheelers fullback/linebacker, Frank Trentadue, saw the field in Week 9 of the AFL with the Arizona Rattlers. Trentadue carried the ball one time for one yard in 51-41 win over the Grand Rapids Rampage. On defense he tallied three tackles for the Rattlers.

Several former af2 coaches have joined AFL teams and more than 175 players have advanced to the AFL over the past three years.

Several players have moved on to the NFL from the af2 including the ‘Wheelers standout defensive rush end in 2003, Asa Francis, who last month signed with the Buffalo Bills to play in NFL Europe this spring.
