Sacramento River Cats News Release

Salt Lake City, Utah. - Everything was working for the Sacramento River Cats (34-46) as they evened their series at the Salt Lake Bees (37-43) with a well-rounded 5-3 victory on Wednesday.

The game started off with a bang. Rehabbing San Francisco left fielder Luis González lined a home run to right field in his first at-bat since hitting the injured list on June 22 with a lower back strain.

After going down 3-1 in the bottom of the first, center fielder Heliot Ramos kicked off the third with a single and advanced to second when shortstop Donovan Walton reached base on an error. Third baseman Jason Vosler promptly tied the game with a two-run double to right field.

Following a two-out double by designated hitter Willie Calhoun in the fifth, second baseman Isan Díaz regained Sacramento the lead with his second of three singles. Díaz finished the day with a stolen base and a team-high three hits.

Right-hander Tristan Beck (3-5) settled in after a rough three-run first inning, striking out six while allowing six hits and no walks in 5.0 innings.

Both teams have yet to announce who will open their bullpen game on Thursday at 5:35 p.m. (PT). Listen to Johnny Doskow call the game online at rivercats.com or on the MiLB First Pitch app.

Additional Notes

All nine River Cats starters reached base safely, totaling 11 hits and five walks.

The bullpen picked up where Beck left off, striking out three while allowing one walk and four hits over the final 4.0 shutout innings. Righty Gregory Santos finished the game with his first save of the season.
