Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Goldeyes are pleased to announce a radio partnership with Kenora-based CJRL-FM "89.5 The Lake" as a network affiliate for the 2016 season.
"89.5 The Lake" will carry all 16 of the Winnipeg Goldeyes' regular season Saturday broadcasts, beginning May 21st when the Goldeyes visit the Joplin Blasters.
"We are extremely thrilled to add CJRL-FM to the Goldeyes' radio family," said Goldeyes' general manager Andrew Collier . "This partnership will benefit both Kenora residents, as well as Winnipeggers traveling outside of the city during the summer months. Whether it's sitting on the porch, fishing on the lake, or relaxing inside the cottage, we look forward to even more listeners having the opportunity to enjoy Goldeyes broadcasts."
The partnership marks the first time since 2013 that Goldeyes radio broadcasts have networked beyond the City of Winnipeg and its immediate surrounding areas. As announced in January, all Goldeyes broadcasts this season will be carried on CJNU 93.7 FM in Winnipeg.
"We are truly excited to bring the 'Boys of Summer' to the airwaves of Kenora and Lake of the Woods area," said Darell Plummer, CJRL-FM Station Manager. "This is one more reason why we're known as Kenora's #1 Summer Fun Station! Saturday nights around the campfire with friends and family, listening to the good 'ol ballgame on the radio and cheering on the Goldeyes--what could be a more classic summer memory than that!?"
A member of Acadia Broadcasting Limited, CJRL-FM "89.5 FM The Lake" is based out of Kenora, Ontario and broadcasts to a 110-kilometer radius that includes Whiteshell, Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Clearwater Bay, Sioux Narrows, and Nestor Falls. Playing classic hits and today's favourites, "89.5 The Lake" has been part of the "Lake Life" in Kenora since 1938. Acadia Broadcasting is based out of St. John, New Brunswick, and currently operates 11 radio stations, including five in Northwestern Ontario.
