Goldeyes Playoff Hopes Come to an End
August 31, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release
The Goldeyes were shutout 7-0 by the Rockford RiverHawks. That result, combined with the Gary SouthShore RailCats and Joliet JackHammers both getting victories, means the Goldeyes have been officially eliminated from post-season contention in the Northern League.
Rockford scored three times in the fourth inning, once in the fifth, twice in the sixth and a final run in the seventh. Rich Austin hit a two-run home in the third inning to highlight Rockford's offensive output.
Goldeyes starter Jason Mackintosh went four and third innings. He gave up four runs on the nine hits and took the loss.
Kyle Wright pitched a complete four-hitter to get the win for Rockford.
Winnipeg and Rockford continue this series Wednesday night at Road Ranger Stadium in Rockford.
