Lake County pushed one across in the second off Kansas City starter Reid Santos after Jeff Dunbar and Amos Ramon led off the inning with consecutive singles and were moved up on an Anthony Esquer groundout. A Kyle Higgins RBI sacrifice fly to centerfield scored Dunbar, putting the Fielders up 2-1.

The T-Bones regained the lead in the fourth after Brownell gave up consecutive singles to Ray Sadler and Jim Fasano to lead off the inning. Rico Washington drew a walk to load the bases then Keith Hernandez was hit by a pitch to bring Sadler around from third. Jimmy Mojica then came up big with an RBI sacrifice fly to centerfield to put the T-Bones up by one.

The Fielders came within one in the bottom of the seventh when Higgins picked up his 18th double of the year, advancing Esquer to third who had reached on a Santos walk. Esquer came around to score on a Guillermo Martinez RBI sacrifice fly.

Lake County stranded two crucial runners in the bottom of the eighth after Short and Cody Strait drew consecutive walks off Casey Hodges, bringing Hunter Mense to pitch for the T-Bones. Mense got Dunbar to pop out to center and struck out Ramon and Esquer to preserve their 4-3 lead.

The T-Bones added a run in the ninth with an RBI double from Sadler to ensure the win. Sadler ended up 3-for-4 on the night with one RBI.
