Winning Play: Joliet centre fielder Chris Colton hit a two-run shot high over the right field fence in the top of the fourth inning to give the JackHammers the 5-2 win.
Goldeyes Notes:
Winnipeg has now lost three in a row and four of its last five. The Goldeyes are now 4.5 games back of the first place Kansas City T-Bones. It's the farthest Winnipeg has been out of first place this season. Winnipeg is on a two-game losing streak against Joliet and is an even 6-6 in the season series. ... Joliet has won three of the five games at Canwest Park. Winnipeg has fallen to 4-4 in July after starting the month 3-0. The loss breaks a three-game home winning streak for Winnipeg. Luis Alen extended his hitting streak to three games when he singled in Kevin West in the second inning. ... Alen increased his team-lead in RBI against Joliet this season to 11. ... He has five hits in his last three games. Dee Brown singled in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to four games. Juan Diaz gave a ball a ride to centre field in the 8th inning in a bid to extend his 11-game hitting streak, but it was caught by Colton. ... Diaz went 0-for-4 in the game. Goldeyes starter Zach Baldwin entered the game having only given up two home runs all season. He allowed three tonight, which accounted for all four runs he gave up.
