
Golden Eagles Fall for Second Time at East Field

Glens Falls, NY - The Golden Eagles fell for only the second time this season at East Field allowing 23 hits in a 17-6 defeat to the Watertown Wizards. Center Fielder Ricky Claudio (St.Thomas) went 3-for-5 with an RBI while second baseman Kyle Ruchim (Northwestern) finished 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI for the Golden Eagles.

Golden Eagles starter Nick Gonzalez (Southern Florida) picked up his first loss of the season going three innings giving up eight hits, five runs, four walks and striking out five. In his first start of the season, Wizards starter Austin Southall (Chipola) picked up the victory allowing four hits and one run in six innings. ÃÂ

Watertown took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the second inning by catcher Larry Buckwill (Siena). It was his second home run of the season and the first of his four hits of the night. Buckwill would then hit a two-RBI triple in the fourth, reached on singles in the sixth and eighth and then doubled in the ninth to hit for the cycle.

Wizards center fielder Erick Gaylord (Campbell) finished 5-for-6 with a grand slam in the eighth and five RBI's total on the night.

Friday, Glens Falls travels to face the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs while Watertown travels to face the Newark Pilots. The Golden Eagles' next game at East Field will be an exhibition doubleheader on July 4th against the Suffern Blue Devils.
