
Elmira Sends Glens Falls Home with the Loss

Coming off a 5-4 tough loss against Glens Falls Golden Eagles the Pioneers would come out swinging last night, scoring nine runs though the first three innings.
The Pios put their first run on in the board when Justin Lamborn (West Chester) tripled and scored on a single by Justin Lacy (Longwood). But the first explosion came in the second inning when Zac Bellinger (VCU) hit a home run in his first at bat of the 2011 season. Ryan Normoyle (Washington) and Lamborn would both drive in runs to bring the lead to 5-2.
Elmira would jump out to a 9-3 lead when they add four runs in the third. Logan Uxa (Arkansas State) led off with a single. Belinger walked and both runners would score when Normoyle singled. Lamborn singled and David Bishop (Mississippi State) laced a double to bring in two more runs.
The Golden Eagles would turn it into slugfest chasing Matt Holling (Corning C.C) with 3 runs in the sixth.
The Pioneers would tack on a run in the seventh when Normoyle singled and would be brought home by Bishop.
The Golden Eagles came back with two runs in the eighth before closer Wes McBride (UNC-Greensboro) came in for the 4 out save.
The Pioneers return to Dunn Field Friday July 1st taking on the Cooperstown Hawkeyes. Friday is Fantastic Friday featuring a "Lucky fan giveaway" with chances to win a HD TV, a DVD player, restaurant gift certificates and more. Stay after the game for Fireworks presented by the city of Elmira.
