Goepfert Recalled to Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach Jared Bednar announced today that goaltender Bobby Goepfert has been recalled to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. The unbeaten Bears host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today at 5 pm.

This marks Goepfert's second trip to the Bears this season as he won two preseason games for Hershey this fall. The King Parks, NY native also earned the victory in South Carolina's preseason finale in Alaska on Oct. 9.

Originally a sixth round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (171st overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Goepfert, 25, was 16-15-1 last season with a 2.60 goals-against average and .912 save percentage for the Augusta Lynx.

Prior to turning pro, Goepfert played four years of NCAA hockey; two years with Providence College followed by two years at St. Cloud State. In his four years at the collegiate level he was 58-39-15 with nine shutouts and a 2.31 goals-against average. The- 5-foot-10, 170-pound netminder also spent two years with the USHL's Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, posting a 52-28-9 mark with 9 shutouts.
