Godwin Delivers In Barnstormers' Thriller

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth, Adam Godwin roped a walk off single to center scoring Brad Boyer to seal the victory for the Barnstomers over the York Revolution at Clipper Magazine Stadium in front of 6,603 fans.

The win gave the Barnstormers sole possession of first place in the Freedom Division.

As R.J. Rodriguez (0-1) looked to close out the game, Butch Hobson countered with his left handed hitting bench. Pinch hitters Blake Gailen and Boyer both provided one-out singles to spark the winning rally. Jaime Pedroza walked to load the bases and Emerson Frostad took advantage with an RBI single to right to tie the game, setting up Godwin's game winner.

York had jumped ahead in the top of the eighth. Left fielder James Shanks tied the contest at two with a blast to deep left field. Two batters later, Sal Paniagua launched York's third solo home run of the night with a bomb over the right center field wall giving the lead to the Revs as Rich Rundles' night came to an end.

The Revs opened the game with a solo shot to left field by lead-off hitter Scott Grimes in the top of the first inning.

Lancaster answered in the bottom of the first when first baseman Terry Tiffee laced a single up the middle past a diving Danny Gonzalez to score Fehlandt Lentini, tying the game at one.

Shortstop Jesus Merchan smacked a double down the left field line bringing home Tommy Everidge from first. Everidge beat the relay throw to the plate giving Lancaster the 2-1 lead at the end of the sixth inning.

After the first inning, both starting pitchers found their groove. Following Grimes' home run, Rich Rundles retired 17 of the next 19 York batters, giving up only a single and a hit-by-pitch during that span. His counterpart, Ryan Feierabend, also shut the door after the first inning. The lefty went eight innings and gave up seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk, allowing only two earned runs.

Jeff Bennett(2-1) earned in relief the win by inducing five outs on five ground balls outs, holding the deficit at one.

The Barnstormers host York in the rubber game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:30. Lancaster will start right-hander Alan Johnson (2-2) against lefty Chris Cody (0-4). The game will be aired on WLAN, 1390-AM and on 1390wlan.com, starting at 1:15.
