Barnstormers have last laugh

The York Revolution took an eighth inning lead on a pair of home runs, but the Lancaster Barnstormers had the last laugh with a pair of run-scoring singles in the bottom of the ninth inning, walking off with a 4-3 win over the Revs in front of 6,603 fans at Clipper Magazine Stadium on Saturday evening. The Revs will go for the series win in the rubber game in Sunday afternoon's finale.
The Barnstormers used four singles in the ninth inning to come from behind. Pinch hitters Blake Gailen and Brad Boyer both singled to set the table before Jaime Pedroza drew a walk to load the bases. Emerson Frostad then ripped an RBI single to right to tie the game, and Adam Godwin served an RBI single into center past the drawn-in infield lifting Lancaster to victory.
It spoiled York's own comeback and a terrific outing by starter Ryan Feierabend, who allowed just two runs in eight innings, the longest start by any Revs hurler this year. Feierabend now owns the Revs' three longest pitching performances of the season, and needed just 84 pitches (61 strikes) to go eight.
The Revs gave Feierabend a chance at the victory, as James Shanks crushed a 3-2 curveball onto the lawn in deep left-center for a game-tying homer leading off the eighth, and two batters later Salvador Paniagua blasted a go-ahead homer out to right-center, giving York a 3-2 lead.
Scott Grimes led off the game with a homer to left field, as the Revs struck for three solo homers accounting for the majority of their four total hits.
For Grimes, it was his second game-opening leadoff homer of the season and team-record fifth of his York career. It was also his eighth home run in 23 career games in Lancaster.
Those were the only blemishes on Lancaster starter Rich Rundles' line, as the lefty dueled with Feierabend for most of the night. Rundles took a two-hitter into the eighth and retired 11 consecutive batters and 17 of the last 18 before Shanks' homer. The three home runs against Rundles, who entered with the league's top ERA (1.08), were the first three that he allowed all season.
Lancaster tied the game at 1-1 in the first inning on a two-out RBI single by Terry Tiffee. Feierabend was nearly out of the inning, as he had Lentini caught stealing on a pickoff move, but the throw to second hit Lentini in the back and bounced away, allowing him to safely advance all the way to third before scoring.
The Barnstormers took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a two-out RBI double by Jesus Merchan just inside the left field line.
Lancaster reliever Jeff Bennett (2-1) earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings, while Revs closer R.J. Rodriguez (0-1) suffered the loss, saddled with just the fourth blown save of his three-year Revs career, and first this season.
