Hartford Yard Goats News Release

HARTFORD - Erupting for six runs in the second inning, the Akron RubberDucks topped the Hartford Yard Goats, 9-4, Sunday afternoon , before a capacity crowd of 6,850 at Dunkin' Donuts Park. The RubberDucks completed a four-game sweep of the Yard Goats. Hartford (15-22) has dropped eight of its last nine games and finished 0-7 against Akron (14-24).

The full house was part of Hartford's 12th straight sellout and 17th capacity crowd of the season. It was also The Yard Goats' 34th sellout. The ball club has drawn 300,527, averaging 6,011 per game.

Yard Goats southpaw Jack Wynkoop was staked to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, when Arvicent Perez received a bases loaded walk from right-hander Eli Morgan. In the second, however, the Ducks sent 10 men to the plate, scoring six runs on six hits. The big blow was a two-run double by lefty-hitting Nolan Jones.

Hartford chipped away with an unearned run in the second, a run in the third on a RBI-double by Perez and Luis Castro's first AA home run in the sixth, that made it 6-4.

Akron broke the game open with three in the seventh on a bases loaded walk, sacrifice fly and Alexis Pantoja's RBI-double.

Wynkoop, who dropped to 6-13, allowed six runs on nine hits. He walked one and struck out two. Lefty Ben Krauth improved to 1-2, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Morgan, who was lifted after three innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Reliever Robert Broom, Anthony Gose and Henry Martinez held the Yard Goats scoreless over the final 3 1/3 innings.

Vance Vizcaino's two hits and a double and a hit and RBI by Perez led the Hartford attack. Call's double and two singles and two doubles and two RBI by Jones contributed to the Ducks' 13-hit attack.

Following a day off on Monday, Hartford opens a three-game series at Harrisburg on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. RHP Matt Dennis will pitch for the Yard Goats against RHP Erick Fedde for the Senators. The game will be broadcast on News Radio 1410 AM, on 100.9 FM and on the Internet on newsradio1410.iheart.com and on MiLB.com.
