Baysox Avoid Four-Game Sweep with Win in Series Finale over Ponies

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies fell to the Bowie Baysox 7-2 Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium.

The Baysox got the scoring started with two runs in the third inning off Zach Lee on an RBI single by Mason McCoy and an RBI fielder's choice by Ryan McKenna. The Ponies answered in the bottom of the inning on a two-run double by Jason Krizan, who had the only two Binghamton hits.

Cedric Mullins broke the 2-2 tie with his first home run of the season to lead off the sixth inning. The Baysox tacked on two more in the seventh on RBI hits by McCoy and Preston Palmiero. Martin Cervenka added a two-run homer in the ninth.

RHP Tyler Herb (1-2) earned the win after six innings of work in which he allowed two runs on two hits and struck out five. Righty Zach Lee (3-1) suffered his first loss with the Rumble Ponies after he was charged with five runs on seven hits over six innings. Cody Sedlock recorded his first professional save with three no-hit innings.

The Rumble Ponies continue their eight-game homestand when they welcome the Erie SeaWolves to NYSEG Stadium for four games. The series begins Tuesday evening with first pitch at 6:35 PM on NewsRadio 1290 AM WNBF and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show starts at 6:20 PM.
