Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, CO- The Colorado Eagles today announced the signing of goaltender Jeff Blair who will backup Paulo Colaiacovo for the first time Wednesday night against the Tulsa Oilers. The Eagles will also look for teams to send goaltenders Chris Davidson and Matt Iorianni before placing them on waivers.

Completing the trade the Eagles made after training camp that sent defenseman Chris Shaw to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs for goaltender Jeff Blair, the Eagles and Blair reached an agreement to put the goalie on the 18-man roster.

Blair, 27, spent the last season and a half with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs going an impressive 29-11-7, mostly as the second net minder. In 2003-04, he had his finest season as a pro appearing in 33 games with the Odessa Jackalopes and the Mudbugs. He finished 20-10-2 and had the sixth best overall goals-against average (2.29). His save percentage in 2003-04 was third overall in the CHL at .926.

In order for the Eagles to sign Blair to the roster, they had to release goaltenders Matt Iorianni, who appeared in one game at Wichita, and Chris Davidson. The Eagles will continue to look for teams for these two goaltenders, however, if the Eagles are unable to do so, they will put the two on waivers Wednesday morning.

With the roster down to 16 skaters and two goalies, the Eagles will get set to host their division rivals, the Wichita Thunder on Wednesday night. Game time is at 7:05 pm at the Budweiser Events Center, the game against Wichita opens a three-game home stand that will also see Tulsa on Friday and Saturday nights.
