Orange County SC News Release
IRVINE, Calif. - Orange County Blues FC is pleased to announce the return of goalkeeper Josh Cohen for the 2016 season.
"I'm excited to be returning to the OC Blues for my first full season as a professional," said Cohen. "I'm looking forward to playing with all the new guys on the team and building on my experiences from the end of last year."
Cohen was a mid-season acquisition for the OC Blues last year, and signed with the team in August 2015. The rookie was coming off a stellar collegiate career at UC San Diego and had been playing with PDL side, Burlingame Dragons.
On September 13, Cohen made his professional debut when the OC Blues visited the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. The Mountain View, CA native had a very strong showing, making four saves and allowing just one goal. The standout performance in net helped the OC Blues earn a critical point on the road with a 1-1 draw, which would be a deciding point as the team finished atop the regular season standings.
"We are pleased to have Josh back for next season and we look forward to continuing his development," said Head Coach and General Manager Oliver Wyss.
The match in Vancouver would be his first and only professional appearance in 2015. In college at UCSD, Cohen earned back-to-back CCAA Most Valuable Defensive Player awards. During his junior season, Cohen was the NCAA Division II leader in individual goals against average and save percentage. During his senior campaign, Cohen earned NSCAA first team All-America honors after his team advanced to the third round of the 2013 NCAA Division II Championships.
2016 Season Memberships and individual game tickets are now available. For more information, please call 949-333-0418 or email seats@ocbluesfc.com.
