Capital City Go-Go News Release

WASHINGTON, DC - The Capital City Go-Go, the Washington Wizards' NBA G League affiliate, announced today the addition of NBA veteran center Greg Monroe.

Monroe, 6-11, 265 pounds, has played in 632 career NBA games with Detroit, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Boston, Toronto and Philadelphia, averaging 13.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. The nine-year veteran averaged a double-double in 2014-15 and averaged at least 10 points per game in seven of the nine seasons of his career. Monroe made three playoff appearances with Milwaukee, Boston and Philadelphia, advancing as far as the Eastern Conference Finals with the Boston Celtics in 2017-18.

A Louisiana native, Monroe also has DMV connections, playing two seasons at Georgetown with John Thompson III's Hoyas. He was a 2009-10 All-Big East First Team selection and helped the Hoyas reach the Big East tournament final. The 31-year-old played the last two seasons overseas, first with German club Bayern Munich in 2019-20 and most recently with BC Khimki in Russia, where he averaged 12.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in 2020-21. Monroe will be making his first-ever NBA G League appearance.

In a corresponding move, Capital City waived Rodney Pryor, who appeared in each of the Go-Go's wins this weekend.
