November 7, 2021 - NBA G League (G League)
Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO, the NBA G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, came up short in their 5th Anniversary season-opener, falling to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants 127-118. Bulls' forward Daniel Oturu led the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds in his first game with Windy City.
Fort Wayne started well, jumping out to a three-point lead after the opening quarter, but a strong second period by Chicago gave the Bulls a 59-53 advantage heading into the break.
Windy City was bolstered early on by its interior presence - center Marko Simonović led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds in the first half while Oturu had 11 points and six rebounds.
Fort Wayne's Terry Taylor led all scorers with 15 points on 7-for-9 shooting at halftime.
The Mad Ants started the third quarter on a 25-5 run to take a 78-64 lead with 6:22 left in the period. However, the Bulls weathered the storm to head into the final 12 minutes tied 87-87.
In a game that featured 23 lead changes and seven ties, the Mad Ants eventually proved to be too much for Windy City, winning 127-118.
For Windy City, Oturu and Simonović each notched a double-double. The big man from Minnesota finished with a team-high 22 points and 13 rebounds, while the Montenegrin put up 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Devon Dotson turned in an all-around effort with 18 points, six rebounds and eight assists.
All five Windy City starters scored in double figures, with Scottie Lindsey and Ethan Thompson recording 14 and 11 points, respectively. Bryce Alford provided a spark off the bench to the tune of 16 points and eight assists.
One of four Mad Ants players to eclipse the 20-point mark for the game, Taylor finished with a game-high 25 points and 17 rebounds. Meanwhile, guards Keifer Sykes, Duane Washington Jr. and Nate Hinton all chipped in 22 points apiece for Fort Wayne.
The opening night loss was the first of a four-game road trip for Windy City before its home-opener on Wednesday, Nov. 17.
The Bulls and Mad Ants are scheduled to square off again tomorrow, Nov. 7 in Fort Wayne. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CST and the game will be broadcast on NBAGLeague.com.
