DULUTH, GA - In a close match-up Thursday night the Gwinnett Gladiators suffered a 3-2 shootout loss to the Toledo Walleye in front of 4,412 in their eighth annual Thanksgiving night game. The Gladiators are now 3-3-0-2 all-time on Turkey Day.

It was a short-handed goal from forward Tim Miller that put the Gladiators (10-4-0-4) on the board first. A nice centering pass from Andy Brandt allowed Miller to tip the puck into the net. It remained 1-0 at the end of the first period. It also broke a 13-game scoring drought for Miller.

Miller struck again for his second goal of the night at the 3:53 mark in the second period, burying a nice centering pass from Mike Forney to increase the Glads lead to two. Forney now has a point in nine of the Gladiators last 11 games.

However, the Walleye (6-8-1-1) quickly responded when Kyle Rogers slipped one past Chris Carrozzi and into the net, making it 2-1 at the 8:05 mark of the second.

The Walleye tied the game a little later when Peter Leblanc deeked around Carrozzi at the 14:39 mark to make it a 2-2 game at the end of two.

The score stayed tied through the third and overtime, and in the shootout Kyle Rogers scored in the eighth round to give Toledo the edge. Danick Paquette couldn't get a shot off to extend the shootout and Gwinnett fell 3-2.

Both teams combined to go 1-for-14 the powerplay, with Gwinnett going 1-for-6. Gwinnet has now killed off 27 opposing powerplays in a row.

The Glads travel to South Carolina Friday before returning home to face the Walleye again on Saturday night at 7:05.
