Atlanta Gladiators News Release
Blanked! Gladiators goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 33 saves for the first shutout of the season by the Gladiators in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Reading Royals. For Jakaitis, it was his 10th professional shutout in North America and his 8th in the ECHL. His single season best was five shutouts posted in the 2008-09 season with the Charlotte Checkers.
Moving Up: Gladiators netminder Jeff Jakaitis moved up to third spot among goalies in goals against average in the ECHL and into a tie for second in save percentage after posting a 2-0 shutout of the Reading Royals on Sunday afternoon. Jakaitis has posted a 1.67 goals against average and a .948 save percentage in three games with Gwinnett.
Chasing 50: Gladiators forward Andy Brandt added another goal to his career Gladiators total in Sunday's 2-0 win over Reading. With Sunday's goal, Brandt is just one goal shy of 50 in his Gladiators career. With 50 goals, Brandt would be just the seventh player in Gladiators history to reach 50 goals in a Gladiators career.
Add another plus: Gladiators forward Tyler Helfrich picked up a plus in the Gladiators 3-2 overtime loss at Wheeling on Friday night and currently ranks 12th overall in the ECHL in plus/minus ranking. He currently leads the Gladiators with a +5 rating through five games with Gwinnett
Long Trip: The Gladiators were not thrown off their game despite having Saturday's game in Reading postponed until Sunday afternoon due to weather and power issues at the Sovereign Center in Reading, PA. The Gladiators posted a 2-0 win over the Royals on Sunday afternoon in the rescheduled game.
Blueliner: Gladiators defenseman Corey Fienhage collected an assist for the Gladiators in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Reading Royals and now has four points on the season. The defenseman shares tops in scoring among defensemen on the Gladiators with four points (two goals, two assists). Fienhage shares the top spot with Shane Sims who also has four points (one goal, three assists) on the season.

Wednesday, October 26th, Gwinnett 4, Trenton 2 Sun National Bank Center - Trenton, N.J.
The Gwinnett Gladiators overcame a one goal deficit twice in a 4-2 win over the Trenton Titans on Wednesday night in Trenton, N.J. Scott Fleming twice equalized the game while defenseman Shane Sims finished with a goal and two assists for the Gladiators in the win. Pat Galivan scored the game winner for Gwinnett 2:33 into the third period. Marc Cheverie finished with 34 saves in the win for Gwinnett.
Friday, October 28th, Wheeling 3, Gwinnett 2 Wesbanco Arena - Wheeling, West Virginia
The Gwinnett Gladiators dropped a 3-2 decision to the Wheeling Nailers in overtime on Friday night in Wheeling, West Virginia. Zach Torquato scored the game winner for the Nailers on the power play with 42 seconds remaining in the overtime period. Chris Clackson collected his first goal of the season at 7:43 of the third period to equalize the game at two and help Gwinnett earn a point in the overtime loss.
Sunday, October 30th, Gwinnett 2, Reading 0 Sovereign Center - Reading Pennsylvania
The Gwinnett Gladiators shutout the Reading Royals 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Sovereign Center. Postponed from Saturday night due to snow, Jeff Jakaitis made 33 saves for the shutout while Nikita Kashirsky scored the game winner for Gwinnett with two minutes left in the first period. Andy Brandt collected his 49th career goal as a Gladiator in the win for Gwinnett.
This Week's Games:
Tuesday, November 1st vs. Florida - 7:05 p.m.
Gwinnett split a pair of games against the Florida Everblades in the first two games of the season. Andy Brandt and Paul Flache each have two points in two games against Florida this season while Robbie Dee and Justin Shugg each have two points for the Everblades against the Gladiators this season. This is the first of seven meetings against Florida at the Arena at Gwinnett Center this season.
Saturday, November 5th vs. Reading 7:05 p.m.
Gwinnett blanked the Royals in the first meeting of the season between the two teams on Sunday afternoon and leads the season series 1-0-0-0. This is the only meeting of the season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center between the two teams and the final overall meeting of the season against Reading. Andy Brandt's two points (one goal, one assist) leads all players in scoring in the season series.
Sunday, November 6th vs. Toledo- 4:05 p.m.
Toledo makes its first and only trip of the season to the Arena at Gwinnett Center and the match up is the first of three meetings between the two clubs this season. Gwinnett went 1-2-0-1 last season against the Walleye. Gwinnett is at Toledo on November 11th and 12th.
