Gladiators Team Up with Nevada Partners for 2007 Season

March 6, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Las Vegas Gladiators News Release

The Las Vegas Gladiators and Nevada Partners, Inc. begin a season long partnership to help educate Las Vegas youth about entrepreneurship and civic leadership.

Positive Youth Impact is an umbrella initiative that provides education support and career preparation to students from the Clark County School District. In addition to financial literacy and entrepreneurship, the class will focus on the importance of being a productive citizen, leadership and how to make a significant impact in their community.

The Gladiators role in this program is to utilize coaches, players and administrative staff as role models and assist Nevada Partners' Positive Youth Impact as the students begin to design a business plan. One of the outcomes of the partnership will be a student designed T-Shirt.

During the 16-week course, students will learn what it takes to develop their concept, market the product and sell it to the target customers. Representatives from the Gladiators will share information on how to maximize the learning opportunity. At the completion of the course, the students will be recognized during a group night at a Gladiators Home Game of their choice. The group will wear their t-shirts and will receive a tour of the arena prior to the game.

Leon A. Jackson, Founder and Executive Director of The Youth Entrepreneurship Program, who facilitates the courses at Nevada Partners, reflects: " On the first day of class, when explaining the parameters of the project with the Gladiators the students emphatically expressed their excitement and spoke endlessly about how they never thought such an opportunity was possible."

"I am very excited personally about this program," said President and General Manager Sam Jankovich. "Educating youth about entrepreneurship and giving them a true hands on experience is a great way to show our support to the local community. The Gladiators are excited to be apart of the program this year and hope this is something we can continue throughout the years."

Mr. Jackson added, "This opportunity is a very unique one, in that as Las Vegas pursues other professional sports franchises, the Gladiators are setting a precedent that if another does come to the city and is willing to be as active in the education of our youth, Las Vegas is in for a drastic change for the better".

The Youth Entrepreneurship Program is currently seeking sponsors and donations for the program. If you are interested in supporting the program contact Leon Jackson directly at 812-841-6588.

Nevada Partners is a 501c(3) organization that provides educational and career preparation services to area youth and is funded in part by grants from the Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board.

The 2007 season marks the 5th Anniversary of the Gladiators in Las Vegas. Season tickets for the 2007 Las Vegas Gladiators home schedule are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Las Vegas Gladiators office at 702-731-4977 or on their email at www.lvgladiators.com.
