Utah Blaze News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Arena Football League Office announced Utah Blaze WR/LB RYAN DENNARD (6-3, 227, Arizona State) as Ironman of the Week for Week 1. This marks the first time the former Sun Devil has earned an AFL weekly award.

Dennard, who is in second season with the Blaze (1-0), scored a pair of touchdowns - one on a run and one on a catch - to help secure the 63-61 victory over the New Orleans VooDoo (0-1) this past Saturday. He also had two key pass breakups late in the game, while adding a tackle for loss as the starting jack linebacker, earning "Ironman of the Game" honors in the process. Dennard finished with 2.5 tackles.

"This is a great honor for Ryan," said Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "He had a solid all-around game and will be a key part of our team's success this season."

The Blaze are 2-0 in season openers thanks to K STEVE VIDITECH's 23-yard field goal with three seconds left in the game. The Blaze will travel to U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ to play the rival Arizona Rattlers (0-1) this Saturday. The game will be seen on FSN Utah on tape-delay at 9:30 p.m. MT.

Other weekly winners included: Georgia Force QB CHRIS GREISEN (Offensive Player) and Kansas City Brigade DB KENNY MC ENTYRE (ADT Defensive).

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Grand Rapids' JEROME RILEY, New Orleans' TYRONNE JONES, Columbus' DAVID SAUNDERS, and San Jose's RODNEY WRIGHT.
