TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm signed kicker Matt Leach and waived kicker Bill Gramatica, Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.
Leach, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound kicker from the University of Florida enters his rookie season with the Storm. A four-year member of the Florida Gator football team, he began his collegiate career as a punter. He ranks second in school history with 250 career points and ranks fourth with 120 career extra-point attempts. Leach finished his career at Florida connecting on 104 consecutive extra-points the second longest in Florida's history. He earned honorable mention All-South Eastern Conference AP honors his senior year and was a semi-finalist for the Lou Groza Award, given to the nation's best kicker, his junior year.
The 2007 Storm Season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sport Lives, continues as Tampa Bay travels to Dallas to take on the Desperados March 10 at American Airlines Center. Storm wide receiver Terrill Shaw returns to face his former teammates. The next home game for the Storm is March 17 against division rival Georgia Force.
