Gladiators Team Up with Jump Rope for Heart

May 29, 2007-The Las Vegas Gladiators and the American Heart Association's Jump Rope for Heart program have teamed up to celebrate the student jumpers who have raised the most money throughout their 2006/2007 Jump Rope for Heart tour. The program promotes the value of physical activity to elementary school children while showing them they can contribute to their community's welfare.
The program allows students to maintain an active lifestyle by jumping rope and also securing sponsors to raise money for the fight against heart disease and stroke while learning about; the seriousness of heart disease and stroke, the lifelong benefits of physical activity and the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle.
For their end of the year celebration the Gladiators have donated a portion of tickets for the students to come and be honored at half time. Lindsey Fiscus was the top jumper raising over $3,300, ranking her 22nd in the Country. Lindsey will participate in the official game day coin toss, as well as be honored at half time. Among others who will be recognized at half time, will be the 2nd and 3rd place jumpers, 1st place student in Hoops for Hearts, the school that raised the most money and the most improved fundraising school from the previous year. The Jump Rope for Heart Demo team will also perform at half-time.
*Heart disease and stroke are everyday tragedies that affect 1 in 3 people in our country. It is a fact that every 33 seconds another American loses their life to heart disease. It is the #1 killer of men, women, and infants in the United States. This is why the work the American Heart Association is doing is so important, and why the donations collected by these children are so commendable. Dollars used for heart and stroke research and education are the key to saving lives!*
*Over 105 Clark County Schools participated in either The Jump Rope for Heart or Hoops for Heart 2006-2007 campaign raising well over $335,000!*
