Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. the largest national youth football and cheerleading organization in the United States with more than 400,000 participants, presented the Chicago Rush with their award for the 2007 Pop Warner Arena Football League Team of the Year on Saturday night at the 47th Annual Pop Warner Scholar All-American Banquet in Anaheim, CA.
At the Banquet, Pop Warner also surpassed awarding $500,000 in scholarship money at the All-American Scholar Banquet dating back to 1993 with a $1,000 scholarship presented by BRAX Fundraising.
The banquet honors the most academically advanced student-athletes from Pop Warner, as well as several individuals and public figures for their commitment to academics, athletics, community, and the betterment of young people across America.
"The Chicago Rush is an organization that has demonstrated a genuine commitment to supporting youth football and the Chicagoland Pop Warner organization, their efforts not only provide our participants with special experiences on the field-of-play, but create experiences for our participants that leave lasting impressions and builds character," said Jon Butler, Executive Director, Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc.
The 2007 Pop Warner AFL Team of the Year award is presented to the Chicago Rush for its commitment to youth football and cheer in the greater-Chicago area. The Rush has been an active partner and supporter of the Chicagoland Pop Warner, a relationship that existed prior to the Pop Warner and Arena Football League national partnership. The Chicago Rush has demonstrated a commitment to Pop Warner programs by incorporating them into AFL Youth Football Month initiatives, inviting Pop Warner programs to compete and play on the Chicago Rush's field - Allstate Arena, charitable and financial support, and by utilizing Chicago Rush players for Pop Warner appearances and speaking at their annual banquet. The AFL Team of the Year Award is distributed annually to a club in the Arena Football League that demonstrates commitment and support to Pop Warner Little Scholar programs in the local AFL market.
"The Chicago Rush is honored to be recognized as Pop Warner's AFL Team of the Year," said Mike Polisky, Rush president and general manager. "Since our inception seven years ago, the Rush has worked closely with Chicagoland Pop Warner to promote youth football. Through the relationship, many young players have had the opportunity to attend Rush games, play on the field at halftime and hear words of wisdom from Rush coaches and players. We look forward to continuing the fantastic partnership for years to come."
