Las Vegas Gladiators News Release

Las Vegas, NV- Last night the Las Vegas Gladiators held an open intrasquad scrimmage at the Orleans Arena. The scrimmage gave fans their first look at the 2007 Gladiators. The players have been very consistent through out camp and the scrimmage proved that stability and accuracy.

Quarterback Shaun King (6'1, 228, Tulane) threw a touchdown pass to Kevin Prentiss (5'9, 155, Mississippi State) on his second drive down the field. He was consistently accurate with only a few incompletions. He was very quick in the pocket, was able to maneuver around the rush and was able to release the ball quickly.

Brian Jones (6'2, 205, Toledo) also had a very strong night. He had a rushing touchdown and also a passing touchdown. He too was very consistent and his ability to move in the pocket and avoid a sack when the rush came.

Offensive linemen Konrad Dean (6'4, 302, Akron), Adrian Gonzalez (6'5, 340, Louisiana Tech) and Carlos Joseph (6'6, 342, Miami) were very strong and did a good job protecting the quarterbacks.

Thabiti Davis (6'3, 215, Wake Forest) who was bouncing back from a hamstring injury really proved his ability to get open and make the catch. He had several receptions and never gave up fighting to get open. Joe Douglass (5'11, 190, Montana), also continued to prove himself. Coach Barto has consistently talked about Douglass as one of the stand out-receivers throughout training camp, and in the scrimmage he made some outstanding catches. Travis LaTendresse (6'1, 200, Utah) scored a rushing touchdown late in the scrimmage.

Terrance Martin (6'2, 290, NC State) and John Nix (6'1, 313, Southern Mississippi) relentlessly pressured the quarterback and pushed the pocket. Karon Riley (6'2, 260, Minnesota) totaled two sacks, one resulted in a safety. Earthwind Moreland (5'11, 186, Georgia Southern) had numerous pass deflections and one interception. Vontez Duff (5'11, 200, Notre Dame) did a great job deflecting passes and also had one interception and returned it for a touchdown.

Training camp is open to the public and practices are held outside the Orleans Arena. The first practice begins at 9:30-11:30 and the second practice goes from 2:45-4:45pm.

The Gladiators will kickoff their 5th season on the road March 4th against the Austin Wranglers at 1pm. Season tickets for the 2007 Las Vegas Gladiators home schedule are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Las Vegas Gladiators office at 702-731-4977.
