Tampa Bay Storm News Release

TAMPA BAY - The five-time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm waived two rookies Wednesday, February 21, Clarence LeBlanc and Roderkus Wright. The Storm now currently has 35 players on its roster after making its first roster move of the preseason.

LeBlanc is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound, defensive back out of Louisiana State and Wright a 6-4, 275-pound, defensive lineman attended Grossmont College. They were two of 11 rookies brought in to compete for a spot on the 24-man roster.

Teams must submit their final rosters to the League no later than 3:00 p.m. eastern standard time on Monday, February 26. For the remainder of the season each club will maintain a 24-man roster and may keep up to four Practice Squad Players and up to two International Players.

Training Camp - The team rebounded from a lack luster effort on Tuesday afternoon. "We just seem to have a little more in our legs today," said defensive back/wide receiver Lynarise Elpheage. "The pep is back, it a goods sign." A good sign it is, as the team had two lively sessions of practice today. Each session was highlighted by some fun trash talk that amped up the energy level of the two practice sessions.

Led by linemen Marcus Owen and Thaddeus Bullard the lineman went at it early in individual drills and the determination carried over into offensive and defensive drills. The highlight of the day came when rookie lineman Tom Kaleita lined up at tight end and wiggled free into the secondary on his way to the endzone for a touchdown.

The team will practice on the plaza at the St. Pete Times Forum Thursday at 10 a.m. and Friday at 10 a.m. They will have Saturday and Sunday off as they come back early Monday morning to prepare for the War on I-4.

Sideline notes - Nyle Wiren was absent from practice today as he satisfied his civic duty and served jury duty . . . Fullback Rodney Filer rode the exercise bike as he nursed a tight hamstring . . . The Storm will make appearances at a welcome party thrown by Bay Isle Key at 11850 Dr. Martin Luther King St. North in St. Petersburg from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The 2007 Storm Season, presented by Champs Sports, Where Sport Lives, will open March 2 with the War on I-4 against the Orlando Predators on Bill Currie Ford Field at the St. Pete Times Forum. Former Storm quarterback Shane Stafford returns for his first game against the Storm. For tickets call 813.301.6780 or visit www.tampabaystorm.com.
