Chris Durno's game winner with 3:48 remaining in the first overtime gave the Gwinnett Gladiators a 2-1 win over the Mississippi Sea Wolves in Game #1 of the Central Division Semi finals on Wednesday night at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

Although the Gladiators outshot the Sea Wolves 9-7 after the first period, Michael Garnett kept the contest scoreless through one by making key saves on numerous weird bounces off the seams in the glass behind the Gwinnett net.

In a scrum in front of the Mississippi net, Rick Emmett was able to find the puck through a gaggle of skates and jam the contest's first goal past Mississippi netminder Greg Gardner. Anthony Aquino and Kevin Doell picked up the assists as they played catch on the left wing wall on the power play before Aquino threw the puck to the front of the net allowing Brown to jam it home at 9:31 of the second period.

Mississippi tied the game up 40 seconds into the third period as Anthony Battaglia slid the puck under the pads of Gladiators netminder Michael Garnett from the slot. Sergi Kuznetsov and Louis Dumont added the assists on the game-tying goal.

Durno tallied the game winner as he slit into the zone in the high slot and threw a puck to the front of the net that found its way through a pile of bodies in front of the net. Joe Bourn and Kris Goodjohn added the assists on the game winning goal that give the Gladiators a 1-0 series lead over the Sea Wolves.

Michael Garnett made 37 saves in the win for the Gladiators while Gwinnett went 1-for-3 on the power play in the win.

The Gladiators and Sea Wolves take to the ice for Game #2 of the Central Division Semi finals on Friday at 8:35 p.m. at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum before the series shifts to the Arena at Gwinnett Center for Saturday's Game #3 at 7:35 p.m.
