June 8, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The 2010-2011 ECHL schedule for the Gladiators 8th season in Gwinnett was released today. As in past seasons, ECHL teams will continue to play 72 regular season games from October 2010 to April 2011 with the Gladiators playing 36 home games at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in addition to 36 road games.

The Gladiators will play a pair of home games during the second week of the season on Friday, October 22nd against the South Carolina Stingrays and on Saturday, October 23rd against the Florida Everblades to begin the home schedule for the 2010-11 season. The Gladiators will play their first regular season games of the 2010-11 season on the road in Florida against the Everblades on October 15th and 16th. It is the first time the Gladiators open the season on the road since the 2007-08 season and the first time since 2004-05 that the Gladiators do no play a home game during the first weekend of the ECHL season.

Many Gladiators games have turned into annual events and those traditions will continue during the 2010-2011 season. For the 8th consecutive season, the Gladiators will play on Thanksgiving Night. The Gladiators will again play on the MLK holiday on Monday, January 17, 2011. The annual Teddy Bear Toss returns on January 15th while the Hat Trick for Reading Program for Gwinnett County Elementary Students will be on October 22nd with Surrounding County Elementary Students participating on November 6th.

The Gladiators annual Sing for Santa has grown into such a large event that it has been split into two performances with Gwinnett County Schools singing on December 3rd and other area schools singing on December 5th. For the first time in team history, the Gladiator will play at home on New Year's Eve - December 31st.

Of the Gladiators 36 home games during the 2010-11 season, 27 games are on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Start times for all home games remain unchanged from last season with all games starting at 7:05 p.m. except Friday games, which will begin at 7:35 p.m., and Sunday games, which will again start at 4:05 p.m. In addition, the Gladiators annual MLK Kids Day Game will start at 12:30 p.m. while the Gladiators New Year's Eve Game start time is to be determined.

The Kelly Cup Champion Cincinnati Cyclones highlight the opponents the Gladiators will face on home ice during the 2010-11 season as the Cyclones make one trip to Gwinnett on March 15th. In addition, the Gladiators will host the Toldeo Walleye four times, the Wheeling Nailers three times, the Reading Royals three times, the South Carolina Stingrays nine times, the Florida Everblades six times, the Trenton Devils two times and the yet-to-be-named Greenville, SC team eight times.

The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
