Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

For the first time since 2012 the Grand Junction Rockies won a second half series at Lindquist Field as they took the rubber game of their 3-game series against the Ogden Raptors 6-4 Friday night.

The win improves the Rockies to 2-1 in the second half, 22-19 overall as they overcame four errors and seven walks to win for the eighth time in 10 games.

After Ogden scored an unearned run in the first inning, Coco Montes tied the game with an RBI single in the third, but Ogden regained the lead in their half of the inning with another unearned run only to see the Rockies regain the lead for good in the fourth.

Niko Decolati started the inning and scored on Javier Guevara's RBI double. Reese Berberet followed with his seventh home run of the season to give the Rockies a 4-2 lead. Niko Hulsizer homered on the first pitch, but Alejandro Mejia stranded two runners in the inning to keep the lead, and the Rockies built on it when Decolati hit a 2-run single in the fifth.

Mejia allowed the first two reach in the bottom of the inning, which ended his night, brining Jake Bird into the game. The first man he faced, Matt Cogen reached on an error to load the bases with nobody out, but they could only score one run to get within 6-4. Bird worked around a walk in the sixth, and Moises Ceja stranded a pair in the seventh. After he tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning, Alexander Martinez struck out the side in the ninth for his 10th save of the season.

Ogden finished 0-for-17 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on base.

Grant Lavigne had a three hit night, while Montes, Guevara, and Decolati had two.

Will Golsan finished with a hit, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored to improve his on base streak to 17 games.

The Rockies will head home to open a 5-game homestand Saturday night at Suplizio Field in the first game of a 2-game series against the Orem Owlz.
