Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

The Grand Junction Rockies batted in the fourth and fifth innings Friday night and it helped them to an 11-5 win over the Helena Brewers at Suplizio Field.

The Rockies came to the plate trailing 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth and got three straight singles from Javier Guevara, Joey Bartosic, and Cristopher Navarro to load the bases. A Will Golsan walk brought home one run, and Hunter Stovall singled home another. Navarro scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at five, and with two out, Daniel Montano broke the tie with a 2-run double.

After the Brewers had taken their 5-2 lead, Jared Skolnicki entered the game with runners at second and third, but he stranded them, and after the Rockies big fourth inning, he worked around a leadoff single in the fifth to keep it 7-5. The Rockies batted around again in the fifth to break the game open with four more runs to take an 11-5 lead. The Rockies took advantage of three Helena errors in the inning. Golsan doubled home a run, while Stovall brought one in with his second sacrifice fly on the night.

Wander Cabrera replaced Skolnicki in the sixth, but after recording one out, he left the game with an injury. Reagan Biechler followed and retired all six that he faced, while Will Tribucher closed the game out with two hitless innings.

The win improves to the Rockies to 10-4 in the second half, 30-22 overall.

Navarro finished with three hits, while Golsan added two and he scored two runs.

Joey Bartosic made his season-debut and finished 1-for-1 with two walks and two runs scored.
