MISSOULA, MONT - Zach Shannon powered the Missoula Osprey (27-25, 8-6) to a 5-3 victory over the Orem Owlz (15-37, 3-11) Saturday night at the Home of the Owlz. Shannon notched a career-high five RBIs with a home run and a double.

In the first inning, Orem put a man on first after a Jordyn Adams single, but Osprey starter Andy Toelken induced a double-play ball to end the inning to keep the game scoreless through one.

The Owlz applied more pressure in the fourth against Jacob Stevens (2-0) after Adams doubled to start the inning. With one out, D'Shawn Knowles walked to put two men on, but Stevens struck out the final two batters to keep the game scoreless after four.

After a one out single from Brandon Leyton and a two out base knock from Daniel Wasinger, Missoula left both runners stranded in the top of the fifth as Robinson Pina (0-1) of Orem held the game at 0-0.

Zack Shannon ended the scoring drought for Missoula in the top of the sixth after the Osprey put two runners on base. Alek Thomas and Blaze Alexander each recorded a single before Shannon's double to give Missoula a 2-0 lead.

Stevens rolled through the bottom of the sixth for the Osprey on the mound, striking out two more batters to raise his total to six through four innings to preserve the Missoula 2-0 lead.

The first run of the game for Orem came in the seventh when Nomie Williams tripled with one out off Mailon Arroyo and scored on a wild pitch to pull the game within 2-1.

Shannon continued his torrid pace in the top of the eighth when he clobbered his ninth home run on the season with a three-run blast to give the Osprey a 5-1 lead in Orem.

With two outs in the bottom of the inning for Orem, Jerimiah Jackson and Adam drove back-to-back doubles to score a run, and Kevin Maitain singled home another to pull the game within 5-3 after eight.

After being held scoreless in the top of the ninth, Missoula sent Jake Polancic to the mound in the bottom of the ninth to shut the door. After allowing a walk, Polancic induced a fly ball to left to complete the 5-3 Osprey victory.

Missoula and Orem finish the four-game series Sunday starting at 4:05 pm. The Selway Armory Pregame show begins at 3:45 pm on 102.9 ESPN Missoula and the MiLB First Pitch App.
