Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE â The Nashville Sounds return home to Greer Stadium to open a nine-game, eight-day homestand on Tuesday, June 17 with a five-game, four-day series against the Iowa Cubs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
The homestand kicks off with a Twizzler's Two-for One at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Greer Stadium. By presenting a Twizzler's wrapper at the box office, fans will receive one free ticket of equal or lesser value when purchasing a ticket.
Wednesday's noon game is Day Camp Day and Web Wednesday. Those who buy their tickets online will receive a "buy one, get one free" ticket offer. The Day Camp promotion includes a $10 ticket, hot dog, and soft drink specials for all attending day camps. Call 615-242-4371 x113 for details.
On Thursday, the Sounds will honor one of baseball's greats as fans get the benefit of watching two games for the price of one during a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader against Iowa that will make up an April rainout. On June 19, 1903, the great Lou Gehrig was born. The Sounds and ALS will celebrate the Iron Horse's life by allowing all local ALS patients and their families to attend the 5:00 p.m. game, and a special pre-game picnic, for free. All fans will receive limited edition Lou Gehrig baseball cards and there will be a silent auction of autographed baseball memorabilia.
It will also be Thirsty Thursday at Greer. Due to the doubleheader, fans will be able to purchase draft beverages for $1 from the time gates open until the end of the third inning of the second game. It is also a Harris Teeter VIC Card Buy One Get One Free night. By showing their VIC Card, fans will receive one free ticket when purchasing one ticket of equal or greater value.
The promotions on Thursday continue with Medical Industry Night. All fans presenting proof that they work in a medical professional will receive a ticket, hot dog, and soft drink for only $10. It's also Shedd's Spread Country Crock Pack the Park Night. Fans can turn in the top of a Country Crock product and receive up to six free "best available" tickets.
The Cubs series concludes Friday at 7:00 p.m. with a current White Sox slugger as the main attraction. The first 2,000 fans to enter Greer Stadium will receive a bobblehead doll of former Sound All-Star Magglio Ordonez, who played for Nashville in 1997.
Friday is also the Sounds' third Faith Night of the 2003 season. Nashville's own Ginny Owens will perform a pre-game concert on the first base concourse at 5:30. Owens, a graduate of Belmont University, studied music education and has three No. 1 radio singles, "Free," "If You Want Me To," and "I Am Nothing." In addition, Applebee's will sponsor its second Neighborhood Night of the homestand.
The Sounds continue their homestand on Saturday evening by welcoming the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (AAA-Rockies) to Greer Stadium for a four-game set. Promotional details forthcoming.
Tickets may be purchased by calling the Sounds at (615) 242-4371, ordering through the official team website at www.nashvillesounds.com, or by visiting the Greer Stadium box office, located at 534 Chestnut Street.
