Vancouver, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants dropped the first of three games in as many days against the Victoria Royals, falling 3-1 at the Langley Events Centre on Friday evening. Tyler Popowich scored for Vancouver while Ryan Kubic made 28 saves.

Jack Walker opened the scoring for Victoria at 8:56 of the first period, tucking the rebound of a Dante Hannoun shot past Kubic. Scott Walford made it 2-0 with a power play goal late in the frame when he fired a hard wrist shot into the top corner from the high slot.

Ethan Price extended the Victoria lead, scoring on a 2-on-0 with Tyler Soy midway through the second period.

Popowich scoring for Vancouver, bagging his sixth of the season just 54 seconds into the third period when Tristyn DeRoose set him up in front. Brendan Semchuk hit the goal post later in the stanza.

Victoria finished ahead 31-22 on the shot clock. The Giants went 0-for-3 on the power play.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Victoria. Puck drop is set for 7:05pm.
