Giants Fall 2-1 to Cougars
March 3, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release
Prince George, B.C. - The Vancouver Giants lost 2-1 to the Prince George Cougars on Wednesday evening at the CN Centre. Radovan Bondra had Vancouver's only goal while goaltender Jake Morrissey stopped 37 of 39 shots in the losing cause.
Neither team scored in the first period, although Morrissey had to make a couple of big saves to keep it that way in the opening 20 minutes. The Cougars struck first in the middle frame when Brad Morrison found the back of the net for his 25th of the season.
Jansen Harkins made it 2-0 for Prince George on a power play in the third period, beating Morrissey from the side of the goal after a nice pass from Chase Witala. Bondra pulled the G-Men back to within one goal on a man advantage, scoring from the left circle, but that was as close as they came.
The loss officially eliminated the Giants from playoff contention. They have six games remaining in the regular season.
Vancouver returns to action on Friday against the Victoria Royals at the Pacific Coliseum on Outdoorsman Night! Puck drop is slated for 7:30pm. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
