MADISON, WI - Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson scored two goals and Shane Gersich provided the overtime winner as the Omaha Lancers picked up a 4-3 victory on the road over the Madison Capitols in front of 4,265 at the Alliant Energy Center on Saturday night.

Madison scored the first two goals of the game and got it started at 6:56 of the first frame. Inside the defensive zone Omaha gave up the puck and Madison's Sam McCormick wristed the puck by goaltender Kris Oldham for the 1-0 lead over the Lancers at 6:56 of the first period. The lone assist on the McCormick goal was credited to Guillaume Leclerc.

A tough bounce for Omaha provided the Capitols with a 2-0 lead. A shot came from the point position and deflected off of several bodies in front of the net. The puck fluttered over the shoulder of Kris Oldham and dropped into the net for the two goal advantage at 10:16 of the first period with assists from Jarod Zirbel and Cooper Watson.

Omaha responded to get on the scoreboard while on the power-play. Jake Henderson settled the puck and sent it through the top of the crease right to an awaiting Josh French who fired the rolling puck by goaltender Darren Smith at 14:03 of the first period assisted by Henderson and Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson.

In the second period Forsbacka-Karlsson scored the only two goals to give Omaha a 3-2 lead after two periods. The Lancers tied the game just over midway through the second frame as Forsbacka-Karlsson came down the ice with Nick Rivera. The two crossed over one another and Rivera took the puck into the left wing circle. After the pass, Forsbacka-Karlsson went to the net and then took the then pass from Rivera to tap in his 11th goal of the season at 10:36 of the period.

A goal from an unusual position by Forsbacka-Karlsson gave the Lancers their first lead of the night. After splitting through the defense of Madison, Forsbacka-Karlsson was hauled down going to the front of the net. Josh French sent the puck to the front and from his knees, Forsbacka-Karlsson gave Omaha a 3-2 lead with 2:48 left in the period with the assists from French and Matt Joyaux.

With only 5:42 remaining in regulation the Capitols created a comeback of their own and tied the game to eventually force overtime. Luke McElhenie sent a shot through traffic in front of Kris Oldham for his 4th goal of the year to even the score 3-3 with assists from Michal Kabac and Charlie Gerard.

In overtime a shot from the point and a rebound provided the game winner. Michael Bigelbach played the puck along the blueline to Nash Worden. Players scrambled to the front of net as Worden let a low shot go that was stopped by Darren Smith. The rebound went to the front and Shane Gersich won the game with his 22nd goal of the year at 1:09 of the overtime period. Bigelbach and Worden were credited with the helpers.

Kris Oldham stopped 28 of 31 shots including several breakaways on the night.

The Lancers head back to Wisconsin on Friday and Saturday night as they play a two game series against the Green Bay Gamblers. Puck drops at 7:05PM both nights with LIVE coverage beginning at 6:50PM with the Valpak Pregame Show on The Mighty 1290 KOIL, www.mighty1290koil.com, and www.fasthockey.com.
