Thunder Fire 47 Shots on Net in Shootout Loss

Fargo, ND - The Bloomington Thunder were unable tohold off the Fargo Force for the second consecutive night and fell 3-2 in theshootout. The Thunder put up 47 shots and grabbed points in their last sixgames. They move to 16-16-7 and hold onto the sixth spot in the Eastern Conference.Fargo improves to 17-16-5, also in sixth place, in the Western Conference.

A scorelessfirst period ended with the Thunder ahead in the shot column 19-2 andcontrolling play over the Force. The play would pick up pace in the secondperiod as Fargo struck first. Justin Baudry (Bemidji State University)scored his first goal of the season at 8:15 to take the 1-0 lead.

Bloomingtonfinished a power play chance a few minutes later and tallied the game-tyinggoal at 13:13. Matt Mendelson (PennState University) found the rebound of a Ryan Siroky (Miami University) shot and tucked it in on the nearside of goaltender Mathias Israelsson forhis ninth goal of the season. Under a minute later, Tarek Baker (University of Minnesota) would take the 2-1 lead,potting on a rebound from Shane Bednard(Bowling Green State University). The Thunder would skate to the dressingroom with the lead and also the shot lead with a 36-11 differential.

In the third,the Force would tie the game up at two as Baudry picked up his second of thenight. Leading scorer Mikey Eyssimont(St. Cloud State University) grabbed the assist on the game tying goal thatwould eventually send us to overtime.

Overtime cameand went with shots favoring the Force 3-2 and the shootout would be used todecide the game. The Thunder could not beat Israelsson and the game-winninggoal would go to Kyle Sylvester whotallied the only marker in the skills competition.

The Thunder went0-6 on the power play while the Force were 1-4 on the man advantage. TheThunder dominated on the shot board totaling 45 shots on net while the Forceput up 20. Logan Halladay (University ofMinnesota) suffered the shootout loss, but picked up points in his thirdstraight game, making 21 saves. Israelsson stopped 45 pucks in route to his 12thwin of the season.

The Thundercontinue their six-game road trip to Des Moines next Friday to take on the Buccaneersin their first meeting of the season.
