Georgia Force News Release

ATLANTA, GA. - The Georgia Force announced today that quarterback Donnie Davis was placed on Injured Reserve and rookie Leon Murray will start under center for the team's next game this Saturday, April 12th against the New York Dragons.

Davis suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the Force's game at Tampa Bay last Sunday. The injury happened when he was intercepted by Storm lineman BJ Cohen, who returned the pick 15-yards for a touchdown. In an effort to make a tackle on the play, Davis was knocked unconscious and was carried off the field on a stretcher. He was taken to Tampa General Hospital for further evaluation where CAT Scan results came back negative. Murray finished the game completing 10-of-16 passes for 122 yards and three touchdowns and one interception. He also added one rush for 11 yards.

"This is an opportunity for Leon to take that next step in his progress as a quarterback," said Head Coach Marty Lowe. "Leon has shown that he has the talent and ability to play in this league. He is a mobile quarterback with a lot of arm strength. While it is going to be hard to replace the kind of leadership that Donnie brings to this team when he is on the field, we are confident Leon can get the job done.

Murray will be the third different starting quarterback for the Force this season. Davis has started in nine games on the year, while James Brown started in team's home opener on February 16th. Brown led the Force to a 51-49 victory over the defending AFL World Champion San Jose SaberCats when he found Darryl Hammond in the corner of the endzone as time expired. That next week, Brown accepted an invitation to play with the Scottish Claymores in NFL Europe.

In other roster moves, the Force signed two players to the 24-man active roster and two players to the practice squad. Quarterback Todd Bankhead was signed from the team's practice squad to the active roster and two-year AFL veteran offensive/ defensive lineman Jeff Cummins was added to the club. After playing in his first career game last week at Tampa Bay, fullback/ linebacker James Lamar was signed back to the practice squad along with quarterback Kevin Thompson.

The Force's next home game will be this Saturday, April 12th when it hosts the New York Dragons in the Arena at Gwinnett Center at 7:30 p.m. The Force-Dragons contest will also be Family Fun Pack Night. Fans can get four tickets and four team spirit hats for only $52. Additional family members can be added, up to eight, at $13 per individual. Flex packages and group tickets are on sale and can be purchased with a credit card by calling (770) 813-7610 or visit www.georgiaforce.com.
