Georgia Force News Release

ATLANTA, GA. – As the Georgia Force make preparations for their game this Sunday, April 18th, versus the Orlando Predators and look to snap what has become a four-game losing skid, the team released Wide Receiver/ Defensive Back Dameon Porter today. Porter, who signed with the team this past off-season as a free agent from the Chicago Rush, has played in all 10 games for the Force this year making 31 receptions for 342 yards and seven touchdowns. On defense this season, he had registered 23 tackles; two pass break-ups and one interception.

"Dameon added a lot veteran experience to this team and we appreciate all that he did while he was with us," explained Head Coach Marty Lowe. "But we feel the team needs to move in a different direction at this time."

A seven-year AFL veteran, Porter was named the league's Ironman of the Year and Breakout Player of the Year award winner in 2001. In his best game this season at Los Angeles on March 7th, Porter had eight catches for 96 yards and three touchdowns. Over the last four games, he has managed only five receptions for 46 yards and no scores.

The Georgia Force return home this week to the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Sunday, April 18th, when they host the Orlando Predators and their quarterback, former Georgia Tech QB Joe Hamilton, at 3:00 p.m. A network-TV sport, the AFL celebrates its 2nd season on NBC in 2004.
