Orlando's Hamilton, Grand Rapids' Ricks & Colorado's McKenzie earn week 10 honors

NEW YORK – Orlando Predators quarterback JOE HAMILTON, Grand Rapids Rampage defensive specialist MARK RICKS and Colorado Crush wide receiver/defensive back KEVIN MCKENZIE have been named Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player and U.S. Army Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 10 of the 2004 season.

Hamilton (5-10, 190, Georgia Tech), who is in his rookie season, earned Offensive Player of the Week honors by leading the Orlando Predators (4-5) to an 57-24 victory over the Southern Division-leading New Orleans VooDoo (7-2) on Friday. The 2004 February Rookie of the Month completed 16-of-23 for 171 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. Hamilton added 20 rushing yards, including a 15-yard touchdown run. This marks the first time that the former Yellow Jacket has earned an AFL weekly honor.

Ricks (5-10, 175, Western Michigan), who is in his ninth AFL season, led the Grand Rapids Rampage (1-8) to a 49-45 victory over the Detroit Fury (4-5) on Saturday. He had one solo tackle, four assisted tackles, two pass breakups and an interception with 14 seconds remaining in the game to seal the victory for the Rampage. This marks the first time that the former All-Arena performer has earned an AFL weekly honor.

McKenzie (5-11, 193, Washington State) led the Colorado Crush (7-3) on both sides of the ball during their 57-55 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers (5-4) on Saturday. The three-year veteran had seven receptions for 65 yards and three touchdowns on offense. McKenzie, who was Ironman of the Week in Week 2, added four solo tackles and two assists on defense. This marks the third time that the former Cougar has earned an AFL weekly honor.

Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Sherdrick Bonner, Austin's Darrin Chiaverini, Chicago's Etu Molden, Columbus' Gunnard Twyner, Colorado's Damian Harrell, Dallas' Bobby Sippio, Grand Rapids' Chris Avery, Indiana's Adrian McPherson and Las Vegas' Marcus Nash.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Hunkie Cooper, Austin's Tom Briggs, Chicago's Corey Sawyer, Columbus' JoJo Polk, Colorado's Rich Young, Dallas' Duke Pettijohn, Indiana's Jordan Younger and Mike Sutton and Orlando's E.J. Burt.

U.S. Army Ironman of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Wendall Gaines, Austin's Dane Krager, Chicago's Bob McMillen, Columbus' Cornelius White, Dallas' Kevin Aldridge, Grand Rapids' Chris Avery, Indiana's Evan Hlavacek and Orlando's Cory Fleming.
