Flint Generals News Release
Player Notes: Shawn Snider has taken the team lead in scoring with 49 points on 16 goals and 33 assists...Martin Ondrej is the only player to appear in all 64 games for the Generals this season...Jeff Zehr leads the league in shooting percentage at 23.4%, scoring 22 goals on 94 shots...Mike Kinnie has the longest point scoring streak with a point in each of his last four games.
Team Notes: The Generals last four games have gone to a shootout, the longest streak of consecutive shootout games in the league this season...The Generals ended a 0-59 power play streak with a power play goal in the second period on Sunday, the slump lasted over 30 periods dating back to February 16...The Generals are now third in the league on the power play at 17.4% and are tied for most power play goals with 81.

Wednesday, March 7 Elmira 3 @ Flint 2 SO
This game marked the 13th and final meeting of the regular season between the Generals and the Jackals. Elmira took a 1-0 lead at 12:35 of the first period on a Rob Chappell goal. The Generals tied the game 1-1 at 14:31 on a Jan Jas goal from Bogdan Rudenko and Bobby Reynolds. The Generals went up 2-1 at 7:56 of the second period on a Jason Selleke goal. Shaun Fisher and Jas assisted on the goal. The Jackals tied the game at 5:32 of the third period with a power play goal. Elmira outscored the Generals 3-1 in the shootout for the win. Jason Muzzatti made 34 saves on 36 shots in the shootout loss.
Friday, March 9 Fort Wayne 3 @ Flint 2 SO
Former Generals Terry Marchant scored the only goal of the first period to give Fort Wayne a 1-0 lead. The power play goal was scored at 8:09. The Komets went up 2-0 with an even strength goal at :58 of the second period. Jordan Fox cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal from Shaun Fisher and Dave Frawley at 2:39. Shawn Snider tied the game for Flint with a goal at 15:52. Jeff Zehr and Gerard Miller assisted on the goal. The Generals lost the shootout 1-0 in six rounds, the third time in as many games the Generals have lost to the Komets in a shootout at home this season. Jason Muzzatti made 30 saves on 30 shots in the shootout loss.
Saturday, March 10 Flint 2 @ Muskegon 1 SO
Mike Kinnie gave the Gnerals a 1-0 lead with an even strength goal from Tyson Turgeon at 2:00 of the second period. Adam Smyth tied the game for Muskegon at 18:25 of the third period with a power play goal. Kinnie scored the only goal for the Generals in the shootout and Bryan Worosz stopped all five Fury shooters for the win. Worosz made 39 saves on 40 shots during the game. The Generals finish the regular season 3-2-1 in Muskegon.
Sunday, March 11 Port Huron 6 @ Flint 5 SO
Dave Frawley gave the Generals a 1-0 lead at 2:13 of the first period on a goal from Tyson Turgeon and Jordan Fox. The Flags took the lead on consecutive power play goals. Both goals were scored by Scott Wray, the first at 10:07 and the second at 11:47. The Flags added another goal at 18:36 to take a 3-1 lead after one period. Jan Jas made it a 3-2 game with a goal at 3:46 of the second period from Bobby Reynolds. Mike Kinnie tied the game 3-3 with a power play goal at 6:42 from Shawn Snider and Jason Selleke. The goal ended a 0-59 stretch on the power play for the Generals that lasted over 30 periods of hockey. Port Huron reclaimed the lead at 4-3 with a goal at 3:20 of the third period. The Generals took the lead with goals at 4:11 and 8:41. Snider and Gerard Miller were the goal scorers. Port Huron tied the game 5-5 with a power play goal at 12:06. The Flags outscored the Generals 4-2 in the shootout for the win. Bryan Worosz made 15 saves on 20 shots in the shootout loss.
PREVIEW OF UPCOMING GENERALS GAMES March 12 - March 18
Wednesday, March 14 Flint @ Chicago 8:30p.m.
This will be the final game of the regular season between these teams. The Generals are 2-3-0 against the Hounds this season, 2-1-0 in Chicago. The Hounds have outscored the Generals 21-14 in the first five games.
Friday, March 16 Flint @ Bloomington 8:05p.m.
This will be the fifth of six meetings of the season between these teams, the Generals end the regular season in Bloomington on April 7. The Generals are 4-0-0 against the Prairie Thunder this season, 1-0-0 in Bloomington. The Generals have outscored the Prairie Thunder 16-8 in the first four games. Bloomington is 1-24 on the power play against the Generals.
Saturday, March 17 Flint @ Quad City 8:00p.m.
The Generals travel to Quad City for the final time during the regular season. The Generals are 0-4-0 against the Mallards, 0-3-0 in Quad City. The Mallards have out scored the Generals in the first four games 29-13. Quad City will play in Flint two more times before the end of the season.
Sunday, March 18 Flint @ Rockford 4:05p.m.
This will be the sixth and final meeting of the season between the Generals and the IceHogs. The Generals are 2-2-1 against Rockford, 0-1-1 on the road. The IceHogs have outscored the Generals 17-15 in the first five meetings.
Generals Player of the Week:
The Generals Player of the Week is Shawn Snider. Snider had three points in four games on two goals and one assist. He had a goal on Friday against Fort Wayne and a goal and an assist on Sunday against Port Huron. He played a +2 for the week.
Generals Goaltender of the Week:
The Generals Goaltender of the Week is Bryan Worosz. Worosz went 1-0-1 in two games last week. He made 39 saves on 40 shots on Saturday against Muskegon in a shootout win. He also stopped all five Fury shooters in the shootout. He made 15 saves on 20 shots in a shootout loss on Sunday against Port Huron. Worosz had a .900 save percentage and had a 3.00 goals against average.
