
UHL names players of the week

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Fort Wayne Komets defenseman Mario Larocque has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Bloomington PrairieThunder goaltender Kris Tebbs has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, March 11th, 2007.
Larocque completed the week with five points (3g, 2a), four penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating in four games played. Helping the Komets to a 3-0-1 record last week, he recorded a point in all three victories. He scored a goal in a 2-1 win over the Quad City Mallards on Wednesday. Larocque tallied an assist in a 3-2 win at Flint on Friday, and he had a three-point day with two goals and an assist in a 3-1 victory over the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday. His power play goal proved to be the game winner against the IceHogs. It is his first weekly honor of the season, and the 28-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec has recorded 58 points (22g, 36a) this sesaon, the second highest total by a defenseman in the UHL.
Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Mike Zbriger, Chicago forward Tim Plett, Elmira defenseman Rob Chappell, Flint center Shawn Snider, Kalamazoo left wing Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn, Muskegon center Todd Robinson, Port Huron center Mark Cadotte, Quad City forward Brett Pilkington and Rockford left wing Paul Brown.
Tebbs finished the week with a 3-0-0 record, a 1.33 goals against average (GAA) and a .960 save percentage (.SPCT). In his first three games on the PrairieThunder roster after being acquired in a trade at the deadline, he led the team to its first three-game winning streak in franchise history. He recorded back-to-back 2-1 victories on the road with a 40-save performance against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday and a 32-save night against Fort Wayne on Saturday. He capped his week with 23 stops in a 3-2 decision over his former team, the Elmira Jackals. It is the second weekly honor for the 25-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta. Tebbs is tied for seventh in the UHL with 15 wins, and he has a 3.69 GAA and a .899 SPCT in 37 appearances this year.
Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Chicago's Brenden Cuthbert, Elmira's Dave Lemanowicz, Flint's Bryan Worosz, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Ryan Nie, Muskegon's Ryan Cyr, Port Huron's Dustin Traylen, Quad City's Brad Smith and Rockford's Frederic Cloutier.
