JACKSON GENERALS RECAP: - The Jackson Generals comeback fell short Tuesday night, falling 6-5 to the Montgomery Biscuits, ending the three-game win streak. The Generals trailed 6-1, heading to the seventh and scored four runs over the final three innings, but fell short by a run. Jackson has played 18 one-run games this season and are 9-9 in those games. The Generals dropped to three back of first place Tennesee in the division. Jake Shaffer was 1-for-4, extending his hitting streak to 10 games. Kyle Seager and Scott Savastano had two hits each and Johermyn Chavez hit his first Pringles Park homer, his fourth on the year. Four Biscuits collected two-hit games. Jarrett Grube (4-1) suffered his first loss, in his shortest outing of the season. Grube went five innings, allowing five runs, four earned on six hits. He struck out five and walked one. Ray's #2 prospect Matthew Moore (3-3) notched the win, giving up just one run in six innings. Moore had six strikeouts and now has a Southern League leading 82 on the season.
AT A GLANCE: Jake Shaffer extended his hit streak to 10 games, batting .400 (18x45) with 6 runs scored, 3 doubles, 2 home runs and 4 RBI. He has also recorded a hit in 16 of his last 19 games, batting .390 (32x82) with 13 runs, 4 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs and 10 RBI.I. Kuo Hui Lo has hit safely in 11 of his last 13 games, batting .391 (18x46) with 12 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs and 19 RBI. Scott Savastano has safely in 9 of his last 10 games, batting .474 (18x38) with 8 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 home run and 6 RBI. Kyle Seager has hit safely in his last 4 games, batting .450 (9x20) with 3 runs scored, 1 double and 2 RBI.
TODAY'S STARTER: RHP Andrew Carraway is activated from the temporary inactive list and makes his 5th start of the season this morning. Carraway has won 2 of his last 3 starts. He has made 7 relief outings this season as well. Carraway is 2-0, with a 2.78 ERA at Pringles Park this season.
SUCCESSFUL MAY: The Generals finished up the month of May with a 19-12 overall record and 12-5 at Pringles Park. Jackson hit .275, with 27 homeruns and 156 runs scored. The team ERA was 3.79 with 215 strikeouts and just 81 walks.
SECOND LONGEST GAME IN CLUB HISTORY: The 18-inning game two of the double-header Wednesday tied for the second longest game in club history. The Generals and BayBears played an 18-inning game on July 8, 2000, with the Diamond Jaxx scoring 3 runs in the top of the 18th, winning 3-0. The longest game in Diamond Jaxx/Generals history was on August 12, 2006 when West Tenn lost 5-2 in 20 innings at Jacksonville. The Generals had three chances to win last night, in the 12th, 13th and 14th, but surrendered runs in each inning.
SOUTHERN EXPOSURE: The Generals continue their series against Montgomery this morning. Jackson has played 42 games against the South Division (21-21), as opposed to 10 games against their own division, the North (9-1). Jackson will play 88 of their 140 games against the South Division. Jackson has yet to play Carolina or Tennessee in their own division.
