
Carraway, Big Flies Help Generals to Daytime Win

JACKSON, TENN. (June 1, 2011 - Andrew Carraway surrendered just one run in seven innings on the mound Wednesday afternoon, leading Jackson to a 7-3 win over Montgomery. The Generals take a 2-1 series lead and are back to nine games above .500, 31-22. Nate Tenbrink and Rich Poythress hit homeruns in the game, pacing a 10-hit afternoon. Jackson is 8-4 in day baseball.
Jake Shaffer's 10-game hitting streak came to an end. Shaffer was 0-for-4. Kyle Seager notched his 20th multi-hit game of the season, finishing 2-for-3, and reaching base three times. Tenbrink and Poythress had two hits apiece, with the homeruns. Nevin Ashley logged the only two-hit game for the Biscuits.
Carraway (3-0) won his second game in three starts. Andrew went seven innings and scattered three hits, striking out five and walking one. Chris Archer (1-3) took the loss for the Biscuits, allowing four earned runs in five frames. Steve Delabar saved his first Double-A game, throwing 0.2 innings, walking one.
The Generals capped off a four-run top of the third inning with a three-RBI double from Scott Savastano. Nate Tenbrink homered in the inning and Jackson jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
After a run by Montgomery in the top of the third Jackson scored a run on an RBI single from Carlos Triunfel. Jackson expanded the lead to 7-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Rich Poythress hit a 2-run homerun to center.
Shawn O'Malley and Reid Fronk drove in runs in the ninth, but the rally came up short, losing to the Generals 7-3.
The Generals and Biscuits continue their series Thursday night at Pringles Park, with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Thursday night is Thrifty Thursday with $1 priced hot dogs, popcorn, 12 oz draft beer and soda's. Thursday is also the state H.O.G Rally at the park. RHP Tom Wilhelmsen (1-0, 7.50) takes the mound for Jackson against RHP Joe Cruz (3-5, 8.34) for Montgomery. The game can be heard on FOX SPORTS 1460 WJAK and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
