Montgomery Biscuits News Release

JACKSON, TN - The Jackson Generals (31-22) scored four times in the second and the Biscuits (24-29) managed just three hits through the first seven innings, falling 7-3 Wednesday afternoon at Pringles Park.

Nate Tenbrink homered off Biscuits starter Chris Archer (1-3) on the first pitch of the second inning to make it 1-0. The Generals would then load the bases, and with two down, Daniel Mayora dropped a pop up in foul ground that kept Scott Savastano alive. On the next pitch, he'd rip a double to the left field corner to clear the bases and make it 4-0.

The teams would trade runs in the third, then a Rich Poytress two-run homer in the fifth was all the scoring before the ninth.

The Biscuits began to make things interesting in the ninth, scoring twice and loading the bases before Cole Figueroa's deep liner was hauled in at the track to end the game.

Jackson starter Andrew Carraway (3-0) was splendid, allowing one run on three hits over seven full innings. Archer suffered the loss, allowing seven runs (four earned) on nine hits over five innings. Frank De Los Santos came on and hurled three one-hit, scoreless frames of relief.

Nevin Ashley and John Shelby (above) paced the Biscuits attack with two hits apiece.

RHP Joe Cruz will take the ball for the Biscuits as they try to even the series up at 2-2 Thursday night at 7:05. RHP Tom Wilhelmsen counters for the Generals.
