Generals Sign Gerbe

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the International Hockey League announce that Center Joe Gerbe (pronounced Grrr-bee) has been signed by the team effective immediately. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement shall not be disclosed.

The 29-year old native of Oxford, Michigan joins the Generals after appearing in 13 games with the ECHL's Trenton Devils. Gerbe played for the OHL's Guelph Storm (1996 - 2000) where he amassed 68 goals, 70 assists for 138 points.

He played for the University of New Brunswick from 2001 - 2003 before heading into the pro ranks with the Greensboro Generals (ECHL ) in 2003-2004. He then went on to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (CHL) and the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) in the 2004-05 campaign. Gerbe is the brother of current Buffalo Sabres forward Nathan Gerbe.

"We want to take at look at Joe to see what he can do for us in the long term," said Head Coach, Bobby Reynolds. "He has some experience and that is always important. We want to see if there is that competitive fire in the belly. That desire to compete and the experience he brings could be a great combination for a player who wants to make an impact."
