Generals Look to Halt 67s Win Streak at 10 Games - Tonight at 7:35pm
Published on December 20, 2019 under Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release
The 67s invade Oshawa for the first time since Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals last season. Just as they came to town with a large winning streak last playoff season, they come to town riding a sizable winning streak. At 10 games won, the 67s are tied with the Kitchener Rangers for the largest win streak currently active in the whole Canadian Hockey League. Your Generals will look to end that streak tonight.
Tonight's game is Christmas at the Rink. There will be an Ugly Christmas sweater contest, a candy canes will be handed out, Christmas trivia, and of course a meet-and-greet with the one and only Santa Claus. This is not a night you want to miss out on.
Season Record (Last 10 games)
Oshawa Generals: 17-11-0-2 (3-6-0-1) - 4th in Eastern Conference
Ottawa 67s: 23-6-0-0 (10-0-0-0) - 2nd in Eastern Conference
Season Series
In two games played each team has one victory. Both games have been won or lost by a one-goal deficit.
Last Meeting
They last faced on November 30th in Ottawa's TD Place. Ottawa won the match 4-3. Ottawa got ahead early and the Generals' Brett Harrison tied up the game with five minutes remaining. It looked as though the game was headed to overtime, but 67s forward Jack Quinn scored with six seconds remaining in regulation to secure a 67s victory.
Players to Watch; Oshawa Serron Noel - The Behemoth known as Serron Noel has been growing his game using his 6-foot-6 frame more often, intentionally increasing the amount of physicality in his game. He's been showing that by doling out a few devastating hits per game. Ottawa-born Serron Noel is facing off against his hometown team tonight and he has a solid track record when the 67s come to ShwaCity in the regular season. In four games at home against the 67s last season Noel had five points (2 goals, 3 assists). He'll be effective in more ways than one in this Holiday special.
Brett Harrison - Harrison was the lone goal scorer in last night's 4-1 loss to Peterborough. Last year playing for the London Jr. Knights, Harrison had twice as many goals as assists and scored just under two points per game - 33gp, 42g, 21a. With a goal in each of his last two outings and four points in his last four games, Harrison is starting to bring the production of which he is capable. Since playing exclusively on the wing at the World U17 Hockey Challenge, Harrison who is a natural centre has more recently shifted to playing on the Generals' wing. It has yielded positive results.
Players to Watch; Ottawa Marco Rossi - Tied for fourth in league scoring, Rossi has come alive this season as a playmaker - leading the OHL in assists. The centreman has an active 12-game point streak, in which he has scored 30 points. Eight of those games have been multi-point outings including a six point performance against the Kingston Frontenacs on November 27 and a five point performance against the Sarnia Sting on November 17. Rossi is expected to be a top-10 pick in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. And the more he scores, the more his stock is rising. The smaller forward listing at 5-foot-9 has the skill to be a star player and is sure to be the best product out of Austria since Thomas Vanek.
