Generals Game Day Preview at Kalamazoo

FLINT, MI - Two weekends remain in the International Hockey League regular season and the Flint Generals continue to battle for one of the three remaining playoff spots still left to be determined. Tonight the Generals visit the Kalamazoo Wings, a team they are separated by just three points for the fourth and final Turner Cup playoff birth. The face-off is set for 7:30 pm. It's the second last meeting of the regular season between the two teams -- and the Wings have dominated the series at Wings Stadium at with a mark of 4-2 and a 5-2-0-2 record in their last nine match-ups.

Chad Alban makes his return in goal for the Generals and his first start since December 14 when he injured his groin and subsequently had sports hernia surgery. Alban, who has a record of 6-1-0-2 and a 2.29 Goals Against Average and a save percentage of .931 in 9 games, has one previous start against the Wings and that was the opening weekend of the regular season where he and the Gens won 5-3.

In the season series the Wings and the Generals have combined for a total of 33 power play goals. There have been 40 first period goals scored by the two teams. Flint beat Kalamazoo 2-1 in the last meeting between the two teams and it was also the only time they have solved Jeff Reynaert (4-1 vs. Gens) since he took over as starter.

It's the first of a three game weekend for the Generals that continues tomorrow night with the start back to back home games at Perani Arena and Event Center on Saturday and Sunday. When the Gens host the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at 7:30 pm on Saturday, fans will have a chance to see the newly designed Turner Cup and Huber Trophies that will be on display. The Goodrich Wrestling Team will be honored for their state championship and Mark Webber will be dropping the ceremonial puck. On Sunday at 4 pm the Generals host the Muskegon Fury for the final time during the regular season.
