
Generals Drop Fifth Straight 5-2 to Bombers

The Victoria Generals lost their fifth straight game on Friday night by a final of 5-2 to the Brazos Valley Bombers. The Generals offensive woes continued as their only two runs of the game came on a two-run home run by Romeo Cortina in the sixth inning. It was Cortina's fourth home run of the season.
Chase Angelle pitched well for the Generals allowing just three runs (one earned) on six hits in five innings, but took the loss.
The Bombers got on the board in the fourth inning on an Andy Smith RBI single. They made it 3-0 in the fifth inning with two unearned runs. Horacio Correa and Patrick McLendon each had RBI singles in the inning.
Cortina's home run cut the Bombers lead to 3-2. But they got the runs right back in the top of the seventh on a two-run single by Hunter Melton off of Generals relief pitcher Juan Cortina.
Armando Arevalo pitched two scoreless innings for the Generals with three strikeouts.
Alvaro Rondon led the Generals offensively going 2-for-5 on the night.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 22-25 on the season and 5-12 in the second-half. The Bombers improve to 37-11 overall and 11-7 in the second-half.
The Generals will take on the Texas Marshals in the first game of a two-game series on Saturday night at Riverside Stadium at 7:05pm. It will be Scout Night pres. by Bed dazzzels. All boy scouts and girls scouts in uniform will get into the game for free.
